Only a few more days.

Thats right folks, my eye is healing up nicely (I had an infection on my cornea last week) and so Im counting down the days until I dont have to wear glasses anymore...I can go back to my contacts.

In the meantime, Jos (Tech Director at Rivers Crossing and officemate of yours truly) and I decided to try out some of the pic effects in Photobooth. Didnt turn out so well, but entertaining for us to try nonetheless.

Any Solution?

This is me this morning in the office looking up remedies for Poison Ivy. I tried to do a good deed and help our pastor out in his yard the other day after the big storm and somewhere I ran into some poison ivy. Its all over.

Anyone got any "home" remedies?

Pictures

Ok mom, here are some pics from church that someone took.

Eye Infection

So I woke up Sunday Morning with a weird pain in my eye. It felt like every time I blinked there was some object in my eye. With or without my contacts it hurt. Everyone has had things in their eyes, right? I know I have.

I ended up going to the eye doctor, thanks to my wife and it turns out I have some sort of eye infection on my cornea and a lot of inflammation. Dont really know how it happened, but it did. So now Im putting drops in my eye every hour and at night I'm putting some cream in my eye and I cant wear contacts again until the doctor tells me.

Weird.

Monday Morning Thoughts

-Had a great Sunday at Rivers Crossing yesterday. It was kind of our "1 year celebration" if you will.
- We saw record attendance of 375. Really cool. God is up to some crazy cool things in this city.
-We're seeing a ton of new faces every week which is great.
-Im amazed at how much energy we've had the past couple weeks during our worship times.
-Lets see...Hurricane Ike, or what was left, gave us some crazy winds yesterday ranging from like 35-75 mph. No rain, just high wind all day. Trees are down all over, power was out for a while at our house yesterday, and power is still out for over 500,000 people around the city.
-Speaking of the Hurricane, Im keeping those who have been affected in my thoughts. I know thats just got to be a tough situation.
-Not to sound rude or anything, but I really dont feel sorry for the people that decided to go against the police and stay for the Hurricane. In fact, I think its funny that now they are crying out for help. Hmm...
-Starbucks coffee is so good right now.
-Im starting to look at a couple acoustic guitars. Might purchase one down the road. Im looking at a Larrivee L-09 Custom Sunburst guitar. I really enjoy my Larrivee now, and their guitars are shooting up in price so I'd like to get one before they jump up too high.
-I've really had great luck selling things on Craigslist. So much so that a guy that goes to our church wants me to sell a ton of things he has at his house, while earning a percent of the profit. That should be fun.
-Played NCAA09 on Xbox360 last night with the pastor of Rivers Crossing...Really fun game. I lost.

Couldnt Help it

So, I went Dove hunting last week with a guy from church. It was my first "real" hunting experience. You know, the kind where you have to have a license and all. Good stuff. It was really fun, I had a great time. I will admit my shoulder was a little sore from shooting a 12 guage shotgun 75 times. At the end of the day, I had one shell left and there werent really any birds flying around...so I decided to aim for the huge Sunflower's we were standing near. It was hilarious. Kinda felt like the old Duck Hunt game where you shoot those cloud looking things and they make that really cool "poof" noise. Any Duck Hunt lovers? Ok.

A pic for your enjoyment....

Hands and Feet

One thing I love about Rivers Crossing (the church that we're at in Ohio) is that they get what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Not saying we are perfect, but we are striving to reach the community for Christ. Our offices are located in a section of town that I would say is not the prettiest or nicest. There are a lot of lower class families and houses all around us. We have people coming in all the time asking for help. About a mile up the road from our offices there is in one direction a theme park called Kings Island. In another direction there are $300,000 houses and a PGA Tour Golf Course. Its crazy.

One thing we currently do as a church is offer a Free Store. Its called Joshua's Place. Basically if someone is in need of food, clothing, or anything...they can get it at this Free Store. They have to fill out an application, and the store is open every other week. Once they come, they receive a certain amount of points to spend at the Store, depending on the size of the family and all. When they are done with the store, every applicant sits down with a volunteer/counselor from our church and we listen to them and pray for them. We let the share with us whats going on in their life and how we can best pray for them. The cool thing about the Free Store is this...we dont give them leftovers. We dont give them things that you and I wouldnt want.

We are also seeing some of these really lower class of people attending our church which is just amazing and Im excited to see how the Lord continues to use Joshua's Place. It seems every week we have new families filling out "applications" for the free store and thats another opportunity we get to share Jesus with them.

Entertainment at its finest...
